Discolored Water During Testing
Fire hydrant testing may produce rusty water. If discoloration appears, residents can be assured the water is safe to drink but you should run faucets for 30 seconds or longer until the water color returns to normal. Also, since the rusty water is capable of staining clothes, officials are requesting residents refrain from doing laundry during testing.
