Water Safety

Tips

  • Did you know that a foot of water will float most vehicles and that two feet of rushing water will carry away most vehicles including sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and pick-up trucks? Six inches of swift moving water can knock down a person. Knowing flood safety information can save your life.
  • When boating always wear a personal flotation device (Life jacket).
  • Always watch children that are swimming and never swim alone.
  • Never drink alcohol and operate a boat.
  • Never boat or swim near a dam. The current will pull you over the dam and trap you underneath at the bottom.
