Law Enforcement Youth Academy
Are you between 14-years-old and 18-years-old and interested in learning more about law enforcement? Then sign up for the Aurora Police Department’s & Kane County’s Youth Law Enforcement Academy over the summer!
The Youth Law Enforcement Academy gives students an exciting inside and hands-on look at law enforcement. Topics and activities include:
- Tours of the Aurora Police Department, Kane County Jail, Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
- Learn more about why police do what they do.
- Learn about traffic stops and practice mock stops.
- Learn about how crime scenes and evidence are processed.
- An inside look at the SWAT Team and how they operate.
- Learn more about Task Forces, like the DEA, ATF and FBI.
- Meet and speak with the Kane County Sheriff, the Aurora Police Chief, the Kane County State’s Attorney, Judges, Elected Officials.
- Opportunities to give back to the community.
Academy Schedule
The summer program will be held from:
This summer program runs from mid-June through early August and takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Additional Details
Students will receive community service hours for schools who honor community service.
Youth Ages 14-18 may participate in the summer program.
Please ensure you are not required to attend summer school.
Please note that we only have 25 seats available and registration for the summer session ends the first Friday in May.
