National Night Out, August 5, 2025.

On Tuesday, August 5, neighborhoods across Aurora came together for the annual National Night Out celebration—an evening dedicated to building stronger relationships between residents and public safety personnel. With more than 30 events held throughout the city, this year’s National Night Out was a clear success, drawing hundreds of families out to connect with their neighbors, police officers, and firefighters.

Aurora Police and Fire Department personnel visited dozens of neighborhood gatherings, from parks and block parties to apartment complexes and community centers. Kids and adults alike had the opportunity to explore a variety of emergency vehicles, including fire engines, police cars, the APD Command Post, the department’s Bearcat rescue vehicle, and the specially wrapped National Night Out squad car. Spike, the Aurora Police Department’s mascot, also made appearances at several stops, delighting young attendees and bringing energy to the evening.

Many residents took the opportunity to talk with officers and firefighters about their roles in public safety, ask questions, and learn more about how to stay involved in their community. The evening also featured music, food, games, giveaways, and creative activities hosted by neighborhood organizers.

National Night Out continues to be one of the city’s most impactful outreach efforts, offering a chance to strengthen relationships, enhance public trust, and promote a safer, more united Aurora. The success of this year’s event reflects the commitment of our residents and public safety teams to working together for a stronger community.
