Aurora Police Department Announces Super Bowl Weekend Enforcement Results

Aurora, IL – The Aurora Police Department today announced it made 1 DUI arrest and issued 13 traffic citations during the recent Super Bowl enforcement campaign. Officers also conducted eight traffic stops and made four total arrests, including three for driving with no valid, suspended, or revoked license, one aggravated DUI arrest, and one warrant-related arrest. Enforcement efforts focused on impaired driving involving alcohol, cannabis, and other drugs, along with other traffic safety violations.

“Motorists should understand that we are serious about cracking down on impaired drivers and other traffic safety violations because these behaviors put lives at risk,” said Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas. “Our goal is simple — to keep our community safe by encouraging responsible choices behind the wheel.”

The Super Bowl weekend “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” enforcement effort ran from Friday, Feb. 6, through the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 9. The campaign is designed to keep impaired drivers off the roadways and promote compliance with seat belt use and all traffic laws.

This law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
